Well, I don't know about you, but I love learning about the history of libertarianism and the history of conservatism. I'm just interested in ideas, and I'm also interested in the oftentimes, well, let's just say, quite colorful characters we seem to attract in these movements. And joining us to talk about this general subject today is our old friend Jason Jewell, who appeared on this program all the way back on episode 200.

And I'm going to pick out some topics that he covers in a brand new course he's just created for my

Liberty Classroom.com website, The History of Conservatism

and Libertarianism. This course was my idea, because I'd like to get more information on this

subject. And boy, did he deliver. You can check out all the lecture topics on today's show

with basic definitions of what we're talking about. He goes back several hundred years,

and then he brings us forward with European conservatism, British conservatism, American

conservatism, then the liberal tradition, classical liberal tradition, then libertarianism,

then a lot of the controversies we know about today, bringing it all the way up to Ron Paul and to current controversies in libertarianism, like over IP or thick versus thin, or all kinds of other sorts of issues. He brings it right up to the present day. It's thrilling. It's the sort of thing most people just don't know about.
