Summary

Samantha's husband was the pastor of their small Ozark town church. Then he stopped coming home, set up an altar in the abandoned Masonic Lodge upstairs, and started physically transforming in front of her: black eyes, green skin, fingernails curling into claws. She saw it at least 20 times over three years. What followed was a brutal season of spiritual warfare where the only thing standing between Samantha and destruction was a 4 a.m. prayer life and a Bible that started speaking to her in code, giving her daily instructions to survive.Now something else is stirring in the Ozarks. Her parents' rural property has become a hotspot: loud impacts on the house, an unidentifiable shrieking over storm winds, phantom smells of bacon and coffee at 3 a.m., and a night where every animal on the road fled in a mass exodus as Samantha drove home.
