Summary
On today’s podcast, I am joined by Adam and Tana Grenda from Stuck N The Rut. Adam and Tana followed their dreams, moved up to Alaska and bought a Super Cub plane. If you have ever wanted to move to Alaska but just haven’t been able to make it work, DO NOT listen to this podcast. This podcast is going to make you want to drop everything and pack your bags for Alaska. Adam and Tana not only have epic adventures hunting from one end of the state to the other but have the ability to do “Once in a Life” trips on a Tuesday after work.
Tana shares her epic tale of reaching her goal of killing a huge brown bear with her bow to overcome her fear of bears, her monster Caribou, and other epic trips of hunting from a super cub. Adam and I talk about logistics and moose hunting as I am currently planning a DIY Moose hunt. This proves to both be very inspiring and shoot down some of my plans in the same conversation. As someone who has unsuccessfully made the DIY trip to Alaska, there are some real gold nuggets in this episode that one should consider when planning a trip DIY.

Today’s podcast is brought to you by On X and goHUNT.com. In this podcast, we quite a bit about using On X Hunt to plan our hunts even for places like Alaska. On X Hunt is known mostly for being a great resource for public/private mapping in the lower 48, but as a whole, it is one of my primary tools for planning any trip, even an Alaska adventure where private land boundaries really aren’t a factor. Using On X in combination with goHUNT I am constantly mapping out my plans and planning my hunts. GoHUNT.com’s insider platform now has Alaska information on it and even the deadline for applications in AK has passed, I can easily us goHUNT to see all kinds of over the counter hunt data. I really like the format and searchability of goHUNT’s filtering to help me plan all of my hunts. Not to mention the strategy articles and info to help you understand how to apply. This time of year I bounce back and forth between goHUNT and On X finding units and then diving deeper to see if the maps show me something worth diving deeper into. Honestly, these two programs are a must-have for me. I’m not just saying that because they sponsor the podcast, even if they didn’t, I would be on both of them daily as I try to find and plan hunts. If you want to know what all of the best hunters who have ever been on this podcast have in common, its that they have the ability to plan and find areas better than the rest. they put themselves in the right place at the right time. Start 2020 off right and get yourself an On X Hunt account as well as a goHUNT Insider membership. Then use both religiously. Use the TRO code for both to save some money and support the podcast.
