Summary

Ravi, Cory, and Rikki start with the only story anyone seems to be talking about – Elon Musk’s Twitter takeover – before turning to more industry news: a bad quarter for Netflix, and a streaming service that didn’t even last one quarter: CNN+. We give our dispatches from the streaming warfront. Disney has a plus too, but they have a definite minus in Florida, as Governor Ron DeSantis revokes their special tax status. More on that feud. Some sobering new data from 2020, the worst year on record for gun deaths among children. We get into the gun reform debate. And finally, we close with a classroom controversy in San Francisco, where a teacher brought in raw cotton plants to teach kids about slavery.  [2:40] Musk/Twitter [9:46] CNN+/Netflix [18:36] Disney vs. Florida [26:38] Teen Gun Deaths [40:47] Cottontroversy Sticher: https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/the-lost-debate iheart: https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-the-lost-debate-88330217/ Amazon Music: https://music.amazon.co.uk/podcasts/752ca262-2801-466d-9654-2024de72bd1f/the-lost-debate LOST DEBATE ON SOCIAL: Follow Lost Debate Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/lostdebate/ Follow Lost Debate on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@lostdebate Follow Lost Debate on Twitter: https://twitter.com/thelostdebate

Just because people feel that they need to buy guns doesn't necessarily mean it's valid, right?

Like I think every country feels that they should have nuclear weapons, but we should ensure that every country doesn't get them, right?

I think like this idea that if everybody's feeling unsafe, that's like a civic breakdown. I feel like we did have a civic breakdown and this is the result of the fact that there were guns out in the streets and people felt like, you know, that's an obvious reality and I want to have one in a legal, sensible way to protect myself.
