Welcome to the NBA show I'm Chris Varn today. Do it means the former NBA rookie of the year NBA champion in now current Denver nugget. He is Mike Miller. Hey Mike.

0:43.0

What's going on brother? Thanks for coming in. So the Denver nuggets now. This is a different stage in your career. You got a young. It's a fun team right young fun team and you are kind of the veteran on said young fun team.

0:57.0

It's a it's a young fun team and I am definitely the veteran. You know for us it's it's obviously it's a team full talent. Stock full talent. It's going to it's going to be great to see the progression this year. If you watched progression last year was great. That's what gives us the hopes and expectations of this season.

1:14.0

So you know my job now is to to be the glue and to keep the same moving. All right. So in terms of guys coming to you. Do they come to you for sage wisdom now?

1:24.0

I don't know if it's wisdom that I'm giving you in return. They're probably coming for wisdom. I don't know if it's wisdom and getting a return. But you know for me it's you know when you have a lot of talent. I mean we have we really do have you know 12 13 players that are really really good.

1:37.0

None of them being the alpha dog yet. So you know it's you know when you're doing that as a coach on the coaching side they have a lot of times is playing time. And so I get a lot of you know I have to make sure that we we monitor that and then make sure the guys are all right.

1:52.0

And so that's my job right now and hopefully I'm doing a job. All right. See say you got a lot of young talent. Who's the one that's going to be great. You've been around great players your whole career. Who's the one on this nuggets team that's got a chance to be great.

2:03.0

I think there's a multiple guys. I think when you have a lot of young talent. There's there's guys that are really really good. And it's hard to pick those guys. But if I had my money on somebody right now it's it's Nicole Yokech I call him Joker. I think I see I see a lot of power the Giselle brothers. I think they really like power and mark.

2:21.0

I replace a lot like power and mark. He understands the game. You can put him. I think what I really like about him on all 30 teams does the same exact thing. And a lot like Mark and in the fact that can control and dominate a game in his numbers are you know 13 10 and 7 right.

2:39.0

And to me that's exciting. I think that that's that's fun basketball a lot. In fairness of my both Giselle's have been first team all NBA guys. You think this guy's got that kind of chance. Well I mean all star first team all NBA type. Now beat me. I like it. I like to me. I do. I think he has that ability because where you look at where Mark and power now then you look at where they're at 2021 years old right. It's the same thing.

3:04.0

Power was really really good when rookie the year at that time. Mark was just becoming himself. So it takes a process. Now again it's a high expectations for anybody because Mark and power to my favorite teammates right to the best players I've ever played with.

3:18.0

But I see a lot of them in there. Will you be there a lot of things have to happen right. All right. So I talked about you being the veteran on this team and you you've got to look around the NBA. We just saw the Ray Allen announcement last week and we talked about it and it's almost weekly.

3:33.0

One of your peers or tires. How odd is that for you? It's odd. Sad. You look around and all your buddies are going. Yeah. You look around and you know you're 36 about to turn 37 in the locker room and that's what makes me excited about playing tonight and seeing Vince play. You know.

3:52.0

Vince makes you feel young. Thank you. But the way he's playing right now he's still me. He makes me feel home. He's playing great and you know I'm cheering for him. So you know we have a there's we don't get together and talk but we have almost like a group and whatever if you're if you're 35 and above you're in a group and you're cheering for each other. Who else is around.

4:12.0

You know we got Jamal Crawford in that group. Is he the only one left from your draft class? Yes. He's the only so it's me and Jamal in our draft class so we're dying.

4:22.0

What your draft was that that was that's like recognized as a terrible draft. Right. It really is. That's why I was terrible. I was 2000. No, but I mean like that was historically like a lot of guys didn't pay an out but you and Jamal are the ones.

4:36.0

One time me and Jamal are still there 17 years later. Wow. That's it. So Jamal Crawford Vince Carter. Andre Miller was gone.

4:45.0

I need to work. Derek. Derek still playing. Who else is in this obviously Kobe and Duncan last year retired. Yep. Ray Allen. Not many of us. That's it. And not many of us. Yeah, we're dying off. I'm sure there's some more but it's not not very many. It's crazy.

5:00.0

When you think back when you think back to that draft and that draft night. Were you happy with where you got drafted. I was obviously being a Florida Gator and you know go right down the road to Orlando.

5:12.0

You know it was to me. It was an easy transition. I mean the transition for every kid from college to NBA is tough no matter what. Right.
