In newspaper articles about the arrest of Lee Clark and Kain's story and about their indictment and the upcoming trial,

the fact that Brian Boling had been talking to someone on the phone when he was shot mostly isn't mentioned.

It only comes up one time.

An article in the Rome News Tribune, published a few days before trial,

notes that police said Brian's girlfriend was on the phone with him

at the time of the shooting, but she did not hear the gun go off.

And based on that reporting, you might have guessed that Brian's girlfriend, 15-year-old

Caprias Hyatt, hadn't heard anything of interest to the murder

investigation. Or you might have guessed that she hadn't been listening when the

shot was fired. That guess would be wrong though. And you know Brian got on the

fall. I know Kane was there or

Josh was there, whoever. I just remember him talking to me and telling me that his

friend was there, you know, his best friend. And I just remember him telling me that they was playing Russian roulette and I was I was okay because I didn't know what it was.

No because I didn't know what it was.

When we talked to caprice she told us that she hadn't realized anything was wrong that night,

until she suddenly heard screaming on the other end of the line, and then heard Brian's brother-in-law yelling over and over again for everyone to get out of the way.

And then the line went dead.

All I know was that I was talking and the next thing I know the phone got hung up.

I called back and Ken is the one that answered the phone and he's hysterical and I was like,

hey, the phone got cut off what happened and he said, Brian shot himself.

The newspaper article was right.

According to Caprice, she didn't hear a gunshot when she was on the phone.
