Gentlemen, today we are going to talk about stalking rifles. Now, we've all gone on spot and stock hunts. A lot of the listeners have gone on spot and stock hunts.

1:03.3	that's going to be fun. Welcome. Welcome. Ian, what makes a stocking rifle? Oh, wow. Okay. About, I don't know, 15 years ago, prior life, I was in the UK at a conference. It went over a weekend. My counterpart there, my host, he said, well, why don't you come home, you know, to where I live, which was a couple hours southwest of the city,

1:31.1	He knew I was a hunter.
1:31.9	It was the right time of year.
1:33.3	Ro deer, red deer, I thought, oh, this is going to be awesome.
1:37.1	And it was.
1:37.9	It was a great experience to tag along with him.
1:40.3	But he used the word stocking rifle.
1:43.2	And there he meant to basically a short-barreled bolt-action repeater
1:49.4	moderated or suppressed.
1:52.0	And he explained over the course of the weekend that stalking means deer hunting without hounds.
1:58.5	So like they're kind of bifurcated into houndsmen and deer stalkers.
2:02.7	And so it was a different definition than what I had in my head of maybe more continental
2:09.2	Germanic alpine stalking rifles. And for me, I think everyone's definition sort of changes a little bit depending on who and where you're talking.
2:19.5	But what I've settled on for a stock and rifle for me and how I see things is you're trading, you're consciously trading maybe capacity and max effective range for size, weight, and portability.
