| 0:00.0 | Welcome to Big Fat Positive with Shauna and Laura. This week we have our weekly check-ins. We have our special segment, Would You Rather, where we explore scheduling conflicts and some surprising animal interactions. And we close with our BFPs and BFNs for the week. Let's get started. Hello, everybody. Welcome to episode 389. Hi, Laura. Hi, Shana. Hello, hello. Welcome to episode 389. |
| 0:20.9 | Hi, Laura. |
| 0:21.9 | Hi, Shauna. |
| 0:23.1 | Hello, hello. |
| 0:24.5 | Let's kick off this episode with your check-in for the week. |
| 0:27.9 | What's going on with you, your kids, your family, everything. |
| 0:32.1 | Well, there is one major thing that dominated this week, and I bet you can guess what it is based on what we |
| 0:37.9 | talked about last week. Does it have to do with school? It sure does. Yay, ding, ding, ding. Yep. So this |
| 0:44.5 | week, Augie started at his new school, and Sebastian went back to his previous preschool, and they |
| 0:51.0 | have both completed their first week at their new places. So it's been quite a week. |
| 0:57.3 | Yeah, I'm so curious how it went, how they're feeling about everything, and of course, how |
| 1:02.2 | you're feeling about it all. Yeah, it's really interesting. Yeah, so when Sebastian went back to |
| 1:07.1 | his preschool, it was really cool because like we showed up on the first day and there were parents who were like, what the heck are you doing back here? Like, I got a bunch of hugs on day one and all that, you know, I mean, like it felt very much like coming home, you know, we had spent four years at that school between Augie and Sebastian. So, even though Sebastian is in a different classroom than we've ever been, you know, we were in the same classroom all four years and now he's in an older kids classroom. You know, it's a small school. We still know everybody. So it was very much just like coming home, you know. Nice. And then there were some new parents sort of looking at us like, why is everyone hugging you? You know, like, it was definitely like, what's going on here? So that was definitely just a nice sort of homecoming |
| 1:50.4 | feeling. And oh my gosh, Shauna, I forgot how much of a relief it is to not have to drop both |
| 1:58.6 | kids off at school at a specific time. Like with Augie and Sebastian, when they were at their previous school, it started at 8 a.m. And, you know, if they're late, they get a tardy and, you know, you can't have too many tardies or it becomes absences, blah, blah, blah, right? You know, it's like they're strict about it because it's a publicly funded school even though it was |
| 2:17.5 | a charter it got public funding so it had to adhere to all those rules right well now we're back |
| 2:22.1 | at a private preschool and you can't even drop them off early right like they open at 830 and you |
| 2:28.6 | got to be like waiting in line if you're there at 829 right and they don't care when he shows up shows up. You know what I mean? Like he could show him at 10. They're like, hey, you know, like, welcome. That is so nice. It was so nice. It was just like such a relief to be like, oh, we have a little more time in the day. You know what I mean? Like at least for one of them. Like if it was my day to drop him off, |
| 2:51.7 | you know, by myself, it was just like, oh, we get to dawdle a little. And it was sort of like rewinding a little bit. It was so interesting, the feeling I had this week. It was a little bit of like, on one hand, it's all this new stuff with the new school. But on the other hand, it felt like I rewound like six months, you know, like in such a strange way. |
| 3:11.2 | And stuff with the new school, but on the other hand, it felt like I rewound like six months, |
| 3:07.8 | you know, like it's such a strange way. And so that was a relief and it was just, it's just all around nice to be at the old preschool. So I'm happy with that. Now, with Augie's school, it's a bit of a different story because it is a public school and they have an 8 a.m. on the dot start. It's a little different for us because they actually have like a bell. You know, the old school didn't have a bell that rang to tell the kids to go into class or any of that. It was much more loosey-goosey. Of course it didn't. Yeah. I know. So Augie's getting used to all this new stuff and it's been a bit of a transition. |
| 3:42.0 | But thankfully, the school had us all go in on the first day on Monday. |
