Summary

Host Ian Hartitz welcomes on boss man of Roto Underworld and Player Profiler Matt Kelley (@Fantasy_Mansion) for 10 questions related to the fantasy football playoffs and dynasty. The guys start off by going over who would be the QB1, RB1, WR1, and TE1 ahead of the fantasy playoffs if we drafted today. The conversation moves around to focusing on Justin Jefferson and whether or not folks should be more concerned with raw volume vs. focusing on receivers that have other pieces to help take away defensive attention. The guys go over the problems with too heavily assuming last year will predict next year when looking ahead to future fantasy seasons and go over some of their 2021 mistakes like Jonathan Taylor, Mike Evans, and Tyler Boyd. Additional topics include time to sell high on Jaylen Waddle?, Jerry Jeudy future outlook, top lessons for new dynasty players, and why speed kills at the running back position. 00:00 - 01:00 Intro, 01:00 - 41:00 QB1/RB1/WR/TE1 - top players at each position talk, 41:00 - 50:00 Looking back, 50:00 - 54:00 Who would you overpay for?, 55:00 - 1:08 Dynasty priorities, 1:08:00 - 1:10:00 Outro

0:19.0

Take a more macro view on the league. Look ahead to fancy playoffs. Look at some dynasty stuff. I have a very special guest to accomplish those goals. He is the boss man of Roto Underwater player profiler. You can hear him all over the player profiler, fancy football podcast network along with the rest of their awesome crew. The pod father himself. Matt Kelly. You know I'm on Twitter at fancy mansion. Matt your second time on the show. Welcome back man. Good. In the flesh man in the flesh. If you pinch me. I heard man. You cut me out. Believe this is the flash. I mean,

0:49.0

I love it man. In season grind, you know, we've sought out all three. We can go out and get on these other pods, but I appreciate you making the time and you're a busy man. Let's get right into it. So I get the I get the bicep wristbands on man. I'm ready. I love it. All right. So I want to look ahead to the fancy playoffs on everyone's mind. Weeks 15 through 17. We're talking before the show. Hopefully none of you out there have your playoffs starting this week with that Jonathan Taylor by if you did that sucks. You know, join us motor league next time. But Matt.

1:19.0

We're focusing on the normal fancy playoffs at the 2021 season. We're to start today and last until week 17, who would be your top QB running back while you're see for tight end that you would want ahead of the playoffs.

1:32.0

We love Calamari, right? I mean, is there anything that you have me Calamari? Okay, six, 15 pass attempts last week. You must have done it out. Not only 15 pat. They didn't need him.

1:44.0

15 pass attempts. He must have done it out, right? Isn't that isn't that right? I think right only 15. He only had 15 pass attempts. Like didn't even need to throw. Right. So you must have done it out. Right.

1:55.0

Except he didn't right. He didn't over. I'll be one. The high rush for two touchdowns. See, this is the beauty of it. This is this is why is good as Tom Brady's been. He's run his pier as he's running his career in the regular season.

2:11.0

This is a, you know, Randy Moss. Okay. Right. Yes. Yet it even better season with Randy Moss. But I mean, this, this is on that level. Right. 50 touchdowns, 5,000 yards. That's the, that's what we're talking about. That's the level of Tom Brady season we're getting here at age 44. It's amazing.

2:28.0

But and yet I'd still rather have Kyler Murray because I want to know that I have outs. If it's a low scoring game for whatever reason or there's a lot of positive game scripts and the quarterback doesn't need to do much in the second half.

2:47.0

And then he's going to find a way to get involved and to get the ball in the end zone with his feet or his arm. And he hasn't had Deandre Hopkins for a number of weeks. He hasn't been healthy.

3:00.0

But now when he's healthy, Deandre Hopkins just happens to be healthy and they have their weapons back and they're going to get chase Edmunds back this week.

3:09.0

And the weekends are great in Tampa. I think I would prefer Murray. I think it's between Murray and Brady, but on any given week, the upside you get from a Russian quarterback is just that much higher.

3:21.0

So the weekly spike week upside from Kyler Murray would be the tiebreaker weeks 15 through 17 cardinals got the Rams, the Lions and the Colts. Like, okay, the Rams and Colts, those aren't ideal matchups.

3:35.0

And it's not like it's the worst defenses in the league. But if you look at the first eight weeks for Kyler, he was still putting up real good production to your point. He always can even in the worst game scripts.

3:44.0

But like it might it might actually be better to face Stafford once these offenses that can actually push the Cardinals to throw the ball a little bit more than they've had to all years. So we'll get a very important point.

3:54.0

That's a very important point. We did a whole analytical study of start set decisions for quarterbacks this summer. And one of the least appreciated aspects of start set decisions and just weekly projections is the opposing quarterback.

4:08.0

So this is something we look at more this year than we have in previous years. And I do a start sit show streaming on Sunday mornings. And that's the thing I zero in on. I'm like, who is the opposing quarterback?

4:19.0

Like that should be one of the first questions. I want to rewire the dynasty gamers brain to worry as much about the opposing quarterback as anything else because that's what drives upside.

4:32.0

It was like last week, Matthew Stafford looked like a smash spot and he didn't even get to 300 yards. Why? Because there wasn't a world that you can envision Trevor Lawrence having a good game against the Rams defense.

4:45.0

It's just not possible. The way that Stafford hits his ceiling is if he has a Kyler Murray opposite him that can push the game into true shootout territory.

4:57.0

So I don't care when it comes to elite quarterbacks. I don't care as much about the defense. Oh, yeah, the great front seven. Okay. So that means Kyler Murray might run more.

5:06.0

The cults. They have a they have a good secondary. They run that zone shell. Okay. Well, he might check it down a little bit more. Maybe more plays drawn up to to Ron Dale more.
