Summary

Today I am joined by fellow podcaster John Stallone to talk about calling in critters. John has been bounding the Arizona hills calling in coyotes and hunting with his bow. There are not a lot of people shooting coyotes with a bow so I had to ask about that but it turns out there are a lot of parallels to calling in elk. In fact, we talk about the parallels of calling all animals and the learning curve it takes to go from being able to call animals to be able to get a shot. We also talk about tips for keeping it together during the season and the struggles of the mental game.

The old Mike Tyson Quote, “Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” is always very evident when it comes to hunting. John and I talk about ways to overcome those struggles and keep your head in the game this year.

This podcast is brought to you by Maven Optics. Maven Optics is flipping the optics world on its head. As a direct to consumer Optics manufacture they are making amazing quality optics for a fraction of what you would pay for binoculars at one of the big box stores.
I have been using mavens for three years now and I absolutely love my bino’s and the Maven brand. Based out of Wyoming this small growing company is making big waves with what they are doing. If you want to know more about the company check out the podcast EP 360 I did with Brendon one of the founders.
Another really cool feature about Maven Optics is that you can 100% custom order your bino’s with literally thousands and thousands of color combinations and camp patterns. I encourage you to head over to Mavenbuilt.com and play around with the custom builder to design your own Bino’s. Personally, I run the B.2 in 11×45 and absolutely love this set of glass. use code “TRO-GIFT” at check out to get a free gift with your purchase.
This episode is brought to you by On X maps the most trusted maps for public/private mapping and one of the single most important tools in my toolbox. I use On X constantly for everything from scouting to in the field. If you don’t have an On X membership you are missing out big time. In fact On X just keeps upping the value, with even more awesome features coming out. They just launched new waypoint icons as well as new colors. This is huge for me because if your On X account looks anything like mine there is about a million little red markers. I have now been going through and updating colors to show different things like potential scouting spots, access points, water locations, feed locations, pinch points and things like that. On X is a must-have for every western hunter and if you are coming out west from another state I can’t stress enough how important it is to have.
