Summary

Finding human gravesites, plane wrecks, and getting your deer stolen from a grizzly is just a few of the epic stories in today’s podcast with one of the most badass guests I have had on in a long time. My favorite guests are always people who have lived a lot of life, today’s guest meets that criteria and then some. Jon Chatelain (@jonnyhunt) is a Tatto artist from the Salt Lake area that just happens to be a badass hunter who spends a ton of his off time in the mountains. Every once in a while you meet someone who just seems to have been through a lot more random life experiences than one would think was normal, Jon is that guy. On top of the random crazy life experience and purchasing of human body parts, Jon is also a great hunter and has one hell of an epic hunt from last year that envolves killing a giant buck and point-blank range. You aren’t going to want to miss this one!

This episode is brought to you by Maven Optics. Maven is an optics company that is redefining the optics industry. I have been running Maven optics for going on 3 years now and I can’t speak highly enough about them. This is glass that is right there with the highest level European glass companies for way cheaper. This is why they say Maven is redefining the optics category. You guys are probably familiar with direct to consumer type models as more and more companies are building their business this way. Essentially they are cutting out the middle man and the big box stores and because of this Maven can create a product at the highest level and be considerably cheaper than any other brand because they aren’t paying salespeople.
The other really cool feature of this model of business is that they can also offer an endless amount of custom options. You can actually go to Mavenbuilt.com and build your bino’s to fit you personally. With thousands of options and camp patterns, you can customize your bino’s to you. I personally run the B.2 in 11×45 and freaking love this set of bino’s. I highly recommend you check them out and I really can’t see why anyone would spend the thousand + extra dollars on a pair of swaro’s. Personally, I would rather support a small-town Wyoming company. Check them out at Mavenbuilt.com and use code “TRO-GIFT” at check out to get a free gift with your purchase. Also if you haven’t yet check out the podcast I did with Brendon, one of the founders. That’s episode 360 where we talk a lot about entrepreneurship and how Maven got started

This episode is brought to you by On X maps the most trusted maps for public/private mapping and one of the single most important tools in my toolbox. I use On X constantly for everything from scouting to in the field. If you don’t have an On X membership you are missing out big time. In fact On X just keeps upping the value, with even more awesome features coming out. They just launched new waypoint icons as well as new colors. This is huge for me because if your On X account looks anything like mine there is about a million little red markers. I have now been going through and updating colors to show different things like potential scouting spots, access points, water locations, feed locations, pinch points and things like that. On X is a must-have for every western hunter and if you are coming out west from another state I can’t stress enough how important it is to have. Use code TRO and get 20% off at Onxmaps.com or from your favorite App Store.
