Summary

Season 8 Episode 4 gave us a standoff between Cersei and Daenerys, a farewell between Jon Snow and Ghost, a funeral for the fallen, and whispers between Tyrion and Varys. But listener mail mostly was about one thing: How the hell is the North so bad at stuff?

We scoured more than 200 emails and voicemails after "The Last of The Starks," and we chose the best for this edition of the "Game of Thrones" Small Council. Hear other listeners' takes on the new Scorpion design, whether King's Landing will fall, Jaime's and Brienne's romance, female disempowerment, and who ultimately will sit on the Iron Throne.

Other topics in this edition:

  • Missandei's execution is the death of diplomacy
  • Dany isn't mad. She's just angry.
  • How does Euron always know where to be?
  • Canadian wrath
  • Gendry's path to the throne
  • Vary's secret aspirations
  • Tom from Chicago's SWOT analysis of the war to come
  • and much, much more!

0:40.0

This week's episode was entitled The Last of the Starks. You spent an hour listening to

0:45.2

our ideas on Tuesday's deep dive. Now it's our turn to hear from you.

0:50.0

Yeah, I think each week the the listeners outdo themselves with the quality of their writing,

0:55.0

but I feel from online, from Twitter, social media, the emails we're getting.

1:00.0

It seems to be two factions of fans and both are just ready to explode it's

1:06.2

like a powder keg. Yeah I've seen comments on YouTube and Twitter people saying

1:11.0

that we're pandering and we're afraid to criticize the show.

1:14.1

We're being completely honest here and I think we've been pretty balanced about it but the

1:17.9

audience if we're kind of the centrist they're definitely the extreme camps. It's a love it or hate it sort of thing.

1:24.4

Yeah, we're getting hate mail from both sides. Oh, you guys pander. Oh, if you got... Some of them say like, why do we even watch the show because you hate it? I'm like are they listening to us?

1:34.9

Yeah or that we're in like HBO's pocket which no we're not but we would be.

1:39.8

No, no. Hell yeah we just send us email HBO. We'll be a show for the show

1:45.0

But we're loving the passion that's coming in. It makes our job so much easier and especially for this small council

1:52.4

We do take the time to read every single email that sent to us,

1:55.3

listen to every single voicemail that sent into us, and we go through a very deep voting process

1:59.9

and debate over each one to decide on the 20 or so that we can get into each episode.

2:04.6

Again, if your email or voicemail does not make the pod, that doesn't mean that we've just

2:08.3

tossed it away. It will be on the website, shout on TV.com under the Game of Thrones

2:13.0

small council section.
