Summary

On this week’s episode of That Peter Crouch Podcast, Pete, Sids and Chris dive headfirst into one of football’s most nostalgic — and surprisingly controversial — topics: kits. From childhood shirt disasters and knock-off classics to the shirts that made entire generations fall in love with the game, the lads break down what makes a kit truly iconic.

Crouchy shares first-hand memories of his earliest football strips (including one that didn’t survive warm-ups), while the boys debate whether people genuinely look better in football shirts, which kits should never make a comeback, and where wearing a jersey in public officially becomes unacceptable behaviour.

There’s also chat about vintage gold, England shirts in everyday life, the unspoken rules footballers live by, and a reminder that some fashion trends really were best left in the past. Plus, a detour into Mila Kunis, Watford shirts, and why manifesting football dreams might actually work…

Yeah, a lot of love for the Marcus Mumford podcast that came out last. That was some of your guitaring. It was funny. Well, it was good for you. Yeah, I thought you did great. But let's kick things off. Happy birthday. Thank you. Last week. You're one of those that doesn't like to make a big deal about it and then it creeps up. But I didn't like to. And then obviously like I saw up like looking at, you know, because obviously the girls are very prevalent on on Instagram and stuff, aren't there? So I've seen her looking at pictures and I thought, oh, she's definitely going to post some stuff. There's no higher net these days, is there? It's just it's out there for the world to see. Well, actually, I only found out because I turned up at the radio and they had to get like a briefing sheet every day. It was like Peter Crouch's birthday. Oh, yeah, it should be a national day, really. We celebrated it on the show. Did you? Yeah, yeah, yeah. We celebrated it? Yeah, we did. We had a golf day. So our regular golf Friday, really. It's really an excuse to carry on. So how was it? Yeah. It was good. It was a great, great day. I mean, I play golf and then Sid, you ducked out. You could see it going one way. Yeah. And I'll tell you the way it did go. It did go that way. Did it? Yeah. But you're allowed on your birthday, aren't you? You can't draw a heap for that. It was nice. Because obviously we've got the golf club where we had a few with the lads. And then I maneuvered down to what is like, you know, a nice little bar where the girls matters. So that was, it's nice to do that, I think. Yeah. Don't you reckon. Yeah. You kind of get, you don't get any trouble. Yeah. There's no, you know, everyone feels involved. Yeah. Yeah. You've had your lad's one and the wife. Did you get any surprise birthday messages from people? Do you get sort of people out the woodwork? Yeah. It's a lot like New Year's Eve, isn't it? Like, you know, people that you haven't spoke to for a long time kind of message you. It's good and bad to that. You know, the bad is I'm hung over and I've got 500 messages to get through. But, you know, the good side of it is that people care. They want to wish you a good... I guess it depends on what the message is because, you know, like, I actually put out a little post for you on Instagram and I thought I put a bit of effort into where I found some old photos and videos. I did it on Instagram, so I know you never see, you've never it. Yeah, yeah. But one of your team will have. And it did remind me, you know where you get a happy birthday message from someone just says, HBD. Yeah. That's worse, in my opinion, than getting no message at all. HBD?

3:08.0

HBD.

3:08.8

Have a birthday, like, yeah.
