And I'm Bryce.

And today we are going to cover Genesis 6-11 and Moses 8, which is the flood.

Yep.

And this is a challenging scriptural block, especially if you teach Sunday school or maybe if you're a seminary teacher or you want to sit down with young children and talk about the flood.

How literal is this? Is it figurative and symbolic? There's a lot of questions that a lot of people

have, Mike. What's your take on the flood?

Well, Bryce, I wasn't there, and I certainly don't know.

Genesis 7, 19, and 20 says that all the high hills, everything under the whole heaven was covered.

It seems to indicate that the hills, really in the Hebrew of the harim, the mountains, that they're covered by waters.

Now, I also see some wiggle room here.

I want to give space for all kinds of interpretations, for example, where it says that Caesar Augustus taxed the whole world, that the whole world should be taxed in the gospel narrative. I don't think

it means that the Caesar taxed Madagascar, or he went to make sure that the Eskimos paid their

taxes. I think it was from the perspective of the author. There are biblical scholars that look at the

text, and they see this opening up the possibility as a localized flood.

To them, remember, the ancients looked at the fringe mountains as far as they could see as kind of

the pillars of heaven that held up the rakia, that held back the cosmic waters.

I don't believe there's cosmic waters above a dome over the earth, but the ancients did.
