It's not the best one. It's not the great one. You're speaking with the juices one.

One quote you give on the interview is that you said by August of 1998, I knew WCW was over,

but when we were still rolling. But by August 1998, you knew that WCW was doomed.

What happened in August 1998 to lead you down that thought process?

It wasn't one thing. It was a combination of things and all happened in a very short period of time

that summer. And one of them I don't have time to go into because it's a very complex story.

But to summarize it, I got called to a meeting one morning. Keep in mind, the context is king, right?

WCW is still outperforming WWE. We're still kicking it. They're coming up, they're getting closer,

but we're still doing great. We're making money hand over fist. We're exceeding our

projections for the year financially. Rating is a solid. Everything's great. I get called to a meeting

and I show up in that meeting and there are 12 or 14 people sitting around a long conference

table, only two or three of them I even recognized. I didn't even know who they were.

And the each went around the room, went around the table and shared with me

what they thought I should be doing with WCW to improve it.

We got down to the end of the table. This guy's name was Joe.

He was the president of Turner ad sales. He stood up or he didn't stand up. He sat there and he said,

you need to start producing your show for children and families.

This show has to be comfortable for advertisers who are advertising to teens and preteens.

Just like I forced WWF to stop doing it because while they were doing that and I was doing what

I was doing, I was kicking their ass financially, ratings wise in every respect.

Now I have somebody who's in charge of ad sales for Turner Broadcasting telling me,

I have to abandon the very formula that got us to the dance and put us in the number one position
