Francis Etcheveria, licensed marriage and family therapist. And I am Deanna Silverman, licensed

clinical social worker. And today we are going to touch on a subject that has been, well, as quickly as it

pops into the news with stories about celebrities, it fades away, which is the way it goes. And we

want to bring attention to the topic of suicide, suicide awareness, prevention, and also

some things to keep in mind as we would like to keep the conversation

open even between the reporting of celebrity deaths and specifically we're talking today

not about specifically Anthony Bourdain and Kate Spade but that is what prompted Deanna and I

feeling like we needed to do something on definitely a

harder note than is our usual podcast. But I think that both of us with our backgrounds as

licensed mental health professionals and in dealing with this particular topic could bring

some light to it into our audience that maybe has not thought about it in a way that we're hoping to present.

So, Deanna, before you and I get started, well, I guess we should give a roadmap to the show,

and that is that we're going to talk about the way to talk about suicide.

And then also we're going to talk about whether or not it's, quote, contagious. Why is there an

increase, some signs that you should be on lookout for for yourself and others, and where to go from
