Hey, gang, it's me, Dr. Steve, your back porch professor. I'm

taking a little break, actually, from moving my youngest into the dorms today. So my wife and I are

officially empty nesters, but there's always something going on in this rapidly changing world

for us to chat about. And this one is huge. While you were sleeping,

the political map of America fundamentally changed forever. In the span of just 48 hours,

Texas Republicans executed the most aggressive mid-decade redistricting in modern history. Remember,

this was something that Texas Republicans

originally didn't want to do. Governor Abbott and the Texas Republican establishment

weren't interested at all in a mid-decade redistricting. But President Trump dropped the hammer.

He looked at the congressional maps and he realized that if red states, starting with Texas,

redistricted across the board, we could permanently box the Democrats out of power.

And so to their credit, Texas Republicans complied.

The Democrats melted down.

50 plus Texas Democrats skipped town hit out in Illinois, right, only to delay the

inevitable. So we now have five new seats in Texas. It's official. And then California Democrats,

and trying to desperately retaliate against this, they ended up triggering a constitutional crisis

in their own state. And in the process, Trump has been running

rings around them orchestrating what may be the most consequential power grab since the founding
