Everyone blamed Emily's accident on a rubber ball left

on the stairs by her frisky terrier. But the more she thought about her fall, the more convinced

she became that one of her relatives was trying to kill her. On April 17th, she wrote

her as suspicions in a letter to Hercules Perrault. Mysteriously, he didn't receive the letter until June 28th, by which time Emily was already dead.

So sit back, and relapse.

My friend Poirot has a particular routine when he opens his morning correspondence.

He picks up each letter, scrutinises the postmark, neatly slits the envelope open with his paper knife, peruses the letter minutely,

places it delicately on one of the four piles beyond the toast rack, and takes a sip of his breakfast chocolate.

But on this particular occasion he paused, read the letter through again, and passed it over to me.

Tell me what you think, my am, my dear Aunt Maud's writing, as if a spider had got into the inkport.
