but clearly the situation is not over yet. Joel Peterson, our esteemed guests, let us know

that just a few hours after we recorded this podcast, the Senate

parliamentarian, who serves as the nonpartisan referee on Senate rules, made the official

determination that the land sale portion of the bill could not be included in the reconciliation

package. This decision was based on the Byrd Rule, which you'll hear more about in this episode.

This is a big win for sure, but there's a good chance it is only temporary.

While Senator Lee has indicated that he plans to revise the proposal and push for a new

version to be included, we don't yet know what that will entail or when it might happen.

In this uncertain moment, Joel emphasizes that now it's more important than ever for people

to speak up and weigh in with their senators if they do not want to see any version of land sales
