This episode we're catching up with my friend and fellow Gardener, Lyndon Penner,

and he's here to talk about his most recent book, which is a bit of a departure from what we're

used to reading by him, but nonetheless an incredible read. The book is called The Way of the Gardener,

lost in the weeds along the Camino de Santiago, and it's about his journey along the Camino

through the lens of someone who is obsessed with plants. I can't tell you how relaxing and

refreshing this book was to read, especially in the context of travel slash adventure novels,

but the best person to talk about it is Lyndon himself, so let's just jump right into it without

further ado. Here's my conversation with Lyndon Penner, I hope you enjoy.

That's really honestly the truth. So I was working on something quite different,

and I got home, and I got my manuscript in, and they didn't love it, but what they did love was

there was a couple of little places where I had spoken about the Camino, and I had mentioned the

Camino, and they really liked that. And so we kind of went back and forth a little bit,

and I said, you know, I kept a journal when I was on the Camino. I didn't just type it up,

and I'm going to send it to you, and you let me know what you liked, or what you didn't like,

whatever, and we'll go from there. And so I sent it to them, and they said, this is the book,

this is the manuscript, and I was like, huh, what? So I, I didn't, a friend of mine said,

your book would have been way funnier if you would have made up stuff. And I said, okay,

I didn't know I was writing this. I thought I was writing this just for me. So I didn't

exaggerate anything because this is just actually what happened. So if somebody says I really

didn't like your book, I'm okay with that because I'm like, well, this is how it went,
