Because here in the United States, our mainstream news sources and most of our mainstream reporters just don't talk about the most important stories outside of the United States.

Now if you travel outside of the United States, I'm not saying that all the

new sources are reliable, but when you leave this country, the world actually

talks about the world. And yesterday, I think what might be the single most important electoral

political moment of the year so far happened. It was in Bolivia and I want to unpack and explain why it matters and

really also give you some context for the horrible involvement that the United States

had.

If everything you know about history comes from high school history books or elementary or middle school history books,

you would not know that the United States over and over again has been a part of

overthrowing democratically elected governments while holding itself up as the world's greatest democracy,

this country, over and over again, as late as last year, I'm not just talking about some ancient colonial period, as late as

last year, the United States, which is one of the most influential, of course, wealthy countries of the world.

When the United States backs a coup,

it's hard to stop it.

And the people of Bolivia elected Evo Morales last year as their president.
