Welcome to Talking Scripture. I'm Mike. And I'm Bryce. And today we're going to be in section 115 to

0:29.4

120. There's a lot of history here that's important for Latter-day Saints to understand. Do you

0:35.8

remember when you were young and you just

0:37.7

thought your life would be a continuously growing line of happiness and success? And then what

0:43.3

life really is is a series of ups and downs, wonderful ups, followed by a few challenging downs.

0:50.4

Well, it's interesting that the Lord allowed church history to follow that same pattern.

So we just saw the Kirtland period where there was tremendous prosperity. We were

0:59.5

dedicating the Kirtland Temple. Jesus came. Marvelous angelic visitors came. Many people

1:05.5

1:36.3

choose pride. We can choose humility in pain or we can choose pride. And it's fascinating to read

1:42.7

church history and recognize that each one of these

1:45.1

periods leads to a legacy of who we are today. So most of our podcast today is going to be the

1:53.3

history of the Missouri period and the Mormon war that occurs there. And you know, Bryce, the fundamental
