I'm Gretchen Rubin, a writer whose studies happiness, good habits and human nature. I am yet again

right here in my home office in New York City and joining me today from LA is my sister, the Sage.

That's me, Elizabeth Kraft, a TV writer and producer living in LA. And Gretchen, I think we have a

question today about how I got that nickname from you. Of course, shadowing.

Now, before we launch in, a quick update. In episode 339, we talked about an idea for using helium

balloon shaped like champagne bottles to make an occasion more festive. However, we heard from

several listeners who pointed out why this is not the greatest idea. Yes, and Virginie, who's a

wildlife ecologist, summed it up by saying they can kill terrestrial and aquatic animals by

starvation or entanglement, can cause power outages and deplete the finite sources of helium.

So that made us think twice about the helium balloons. Indeed. So we are on the hunt for more

good ideas for easy ways to make an occasion more festive and how to add that note of whimsy.
