Welcome back to the live wild podcast, everyone. It's really hard to believe it's already mid-October.

You know, when the leaves start to fall, I kind of start transitioning my thinking from elk to

mule deer. Now, of course, the mule deer rut is an awesome time to hunt, but most tags out west

are going to take place before the rut hits. So this week, I'm going to cover the places I

tend to focus my glass and how to locate and hunt different bedding areas. We're going to call it

mule deer hidey holes. We're going to look at the six habitat types, including breaks country,

open steep hillsides, open timber mix, timbered logged country, regen burns and alpine terrain.
