Summary

This week’s special episode is shining a light on teachers and caretakers, as Paula’s mom and sister, Carol and Mary, share their very personal experience four months after Carol’s stroke. In the blink of an eye, Mary went from teaching children in the pandemic to becoming a full time caregiver and teacher to her 81-year-old mother who was relearning how to read, write, and tell time at an elementary school level. They share the highs and lows of their experience and dive deeper into the ways they have been there for each other throughout the years especially through Mary’s battle with depression and severe postpartum. They also talk about overcoming crippling fear and anxiety that resurfaced during the pandemic by using the three P’s: Prayer, Positive thinking, and Prozac. If you or someone you know is struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, here are some helpful resources:      Eisenberg Family Depression Center     National Suicide Prevention Lifeline: 1-800-273-TALK(8255)     Crisis Text Line: Text ‘HOME’ to 741-741 to connect with a counselor Listen to Carol’s first time on the podcast here.
