All right, what's up guys? We're here at CPAC 2019. As you know, usually I cover the White House,

but I saw this guy and this guy's shirt, Detective Howard Woolridge, and his shirt says,

cops say, legalized legalize heroin are you nuts I don't think so and why not we've

been at this drug war for 47 years and today heroin is in every small town in America and despite our efforts and we're losing

200 citizens today from a heroin overdose because citizens don't have access to

a clean legal heroin this is a national. It doesn't have to be. We could do better.

Now have you found it hard because I have to imagine people here. I'm like this guy's

crazy. He's wearing a shirt. This is legalized heroin. We've got an opioid crisis. We have so many problems.

Not to mention, it's not, you know, people don't think of

legalizing heroin as the, you know, the standard conservative message.

Right. So how is, how, how, how, how people's reactions have been to your message here at CPEC?

Well, the message has been overwhelmingly positive.

People after 47 years know that what we're doing today doesn't work.

And people should know, and can some do, that the war on drugs prohibition is a

nanny state liberal policy where you think that the government can fix stupid

everybody here agrees the government can't fix stupid but for some reason they think in the issue of drugs

Yeah, just arrest enough people shoot some dealers and we'll fix it as a counterintuitive

Proposition because most people think you legalize drugs the death

rates are going to go through the roof if it's available more people are going to

want to do it explain why you say that's not the case well I know a little bit

about this the Swiss have given out over 10 million doses of heroin to their

patient population, pure heroin, in the last 20 years and not one has died because pharmaceutical
