On today's episode I've got Jeff on the podcast and he's a licensed marriage

and family therapist who recently authored a book on

doing the 12 Steps for Atheists. I'll have a direct link under the show notes for you

One of the topics I wanted to make sure that we hit on was how to handle sobriety when you're

married or in a relationship with someone who drinks. This comes up a lot in my interviews and

people wonder what to tell their spouse about getting sober. How do they

approach what they need? Is it okay to ask for all the alcohol to be taken out of the house?

Does the other person need to stop drinking for a while? Does the other person need to stop

drinking altogether? These are all important questions to ask.

And I was divorced and single when I first got sober,

so I don't have any personal experience on this one.

So I went back to some older interviews,

and I wanted to see what we've touched on before.

And on episode 16 with another Jeff, coincidentally, we talked about this as he got sober

within a marriage where the other partner was a normal drinker.
