Welcome to Talking Scripture. I'm Mike. And I'm Bryce. And today we're going to be in

section 27 and 28 of the Doctor in Covenants. And the background to this is it's in Harmony,

Pennsylvania. And Joseph Smith talks about how his wife has not been confirmed

and neither has Newell Knight's wife.

On the day Emma was baptized, Joseph was arrested, there was a whole challenge, and it's been

a couple months.

Yeah.

And so it's August of 1830, and Joseph Smith is going to go and acquire some wine for the

sacrament. And so as he's walking, he's going to have this experience, isn't he, Bryce?

Yeah, an angel appears and says, Joseph, don't buy wine from your enemies. Let's not put the

church in that position, because guess what, Joseph? It doesn't matter what you use when you perform

the sacrament as long as your heart

is right, which is why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints uses water instead of

wine during the sacrament. An angel gives in verse two, it mattereth not what you eat or drink

as long as your heart is pure. So answered that question. But while we're talking about the sacrament,

can we talk about kind of the symbolism of the sacrament and the feast that it represents?

And there's a whole lot going on here from way back in the beginning of time about feasting with

the king. Jesus says, verse 5, I am going to feast with you
