Davos Sweeney criticizes the state of college football, Herschel Walker joins us for an interview

Clemson head coach Davos Sweeney has been critical of the direction college football has been going in

for quite some time now. Whether it be NIL or the transfer portal, he worries that kids are

getting manipulated at a much higher rate and that it will affect graduation. He also adds that it

takes away the most important part of a person's college experience, the education. While I haven't

been the biggest fan of the new transfer rules allowing players to transfer one time, free of charge,

to a school of their choice regardless of division without paying a penalty. Don't agree with that.

I could not disagree more with coach Sweeney about what he's talking about.

Recruits have been getting manipulated as long as there's been high level recruiting. It's

always gone on and it manifests itself in many different ways whether it be tampering,

illegal funds, lies or broken promises. Hell, it's basically part of the recruiting game.

These new rules didn't invent manipulation, provoke coaches to lie or stretch the truths about

what their program can provide a player making their decision. To act as if this will be the down

fall of college football, it's pretty laughable. There'll always be manipulation.

Now, when it comes to graduation, if any coaches should have a gripe about it not being about

graduating, it's college basketball coaches. They typically get their best players for a couple

semesters at max thanks to the rule on that side of the coin. There's been no year limit

decrease on players being eligible to enter the NFL draft. You still have to stay at least three

years to be able to transfer another school and to be eligible, you have to have the grades

and be on track to graduate. You can't make NIL money if you aren't academically eligible
