Summary

Many say they need to find themselves, but what does that mean? Ray, E.Z., Mark, and Oscar talk about how when we look within ourselves for meaning, we walk away disheartened. The truth is, we find ourselves by losing ourselves in Christ. Believers don’t need to find themselves; they need to forget themselves. When we keep our eyes on the Lord, the opinions of others won’t bother us. Only when we realize that Jesus is all we have do we understand He’s all we need. What we think about ourselves...

We have been touched by God, and our value is so much more, so much greater, because we have been

0:06.7

touched by the living God, right?

0:10.2

The gospel reminds us that we don't have to wander in search of meaning or identity,

0:15.5

because Jesus already secured our identity by his death and resurrection.

What did he do?

0:20.6

For as many has received him,

0:22.1

he's given them the right or the power or the authority to be a child of God. We are children

0:28.8

of the living king. You know, it reminds me of a story that I heard. I won't mention his name,

0:34.4

but he was a missionary, and he was in the back

0:39.5

of a police car in Peru, and the police officer looked in the back, and he saw him shaking,

0:46.1

visibly shaking. It was his own car, actually. It wasn't a police car. He was his own car. He looked

0:50.3

at him, and he saw that he was shaking, and he asked him, are you afraid? And the missionary

0:54.9

responded and said, yes, I'm afraid. And the police officer responded, said, good, you should

1:00.0

be afraid. He goes, oh, no, I'm not afraid for me. I'm afraid for you. Oh, wow. Because he knew

1:06.6

who he was in Christ. And when somebody comes up against us, God takes that personal. That you are not

1:14.5

coming up against a mere mortal of a man. You are coming up against God, and God takes that very

1:20.2

serious. Therefore, listen, as our portion, as our inheritance, as the one who will defend his children,

1:27.1

he will always have the final word.

1:29.6

You can be quiet, knowing, and you can rest, knowing that God will defend his children

1:37.0

because you've been adopted into him. So we embrace our identity that has been given to us as a

1:43.2

beloved child of God, and we rest in the truth that our worth is found in him alone.
