Summary

“She sat at His feet in the good times, she fell at His feet in the hard times.” Today’s Episode Perhaps you’ve wondered how you can have a relationship with Jesus so intimate that you trust Him with all you hold dear. Today, we’ll trace Mary of Bethany’s story through the Gospels. She was the one who anointed Jesus’s body before His burial. She’s also the one who sat at His feet while her sister Martha worked in the kitchen. And she’s the one who lost her brother Lazarus when Jesus could have saved him. The question for us is how did Mary get to the place where she was willing to trust Jesus with everything? What are you and I missing about the Savior that makes what we’re holding onto seem so powerful? What of our alabaster jars are we still clutching? In today’s episode we’ll ponder these questions as we reflect on Mary’s relationship with Jesus. When we see Him for who He truly is we’ll want to give Him everything. Let’s follow Mary’s lead and spend time at the feet of The Teacher today. We're going to be looking at the life of Mary of Bethany.

1:00.4

And this feels like a really fitting week for us to look at her life

1:05.0

because she is the one who anointed Jesus' body for his burial.

Now, I don't know about you, but Mary of Bethany has always been very intriguing to me

1:14.4

because when she anointed Jesus' body for burial, she broke open her alabaster jar,

1:21.4

and in doing so, really gave Jesus everything.

1:24.6

And I've always been intrigued by her story and how she got to that place where she was

1:30.4

willing to do that and joyfully, seemingly, joyfully excited to do this for Jesus. Maybe you've

1:38.7

known some people in your life that you genuinely sensed that they would be willing to give up anything for Jesus,

that they love him so much that their money, their time, their resources, their relationships,

all of it is secondary to knowing Jesus and to loving Jesus. And they just walk in that. They live life like that.

2:06.8

I love being around people like that. And I pray that Jesus is growing me in to that kind of person.

2:14.3

I'm certainly further down the road in that way than I was many years ago. And that's why

the story is so important to me, because if you know anything about my life, the very first
