I'm Prince Hiss Himpil and this is finding our way. So this period of time has taught me a lot about who my people are, who my community is.

It's been the friends that I check in on, the friends

that check in on me. It's been my neighbors who bring food to me or I take food to them.

It hasn't always been what I thought it would be.

Maybe community is like a body.

A community feels and responds.

It lives, it grows, it changes.

Community to me is a way that people come together to sink up their nervous system and their cares,

to share responsibility and their abundance.

We build these networks of interrelation

that extend beyond and include those who we call family.

Many of us are born into communities and like families as we get older we begin the work of building our own or reshaping the ones in which we reside.

Many of us have experienced too the trauma of community

expulsion. We might carry the fear of belonging, but we might also carry the desire

to be known just as we are.
