journalists of our time.

With half a century of experience, he is an institution in American politics having

covered it for almost 35 years at the Wall Street Journal, where he ran the Washington

Bureau.

And later at Bloomberg, I sat down with Al the other day as he prepares to leave Bloomberg

to talk about American politics through his eyes where we have been and where we're going.

Al Hunt, it's always great to see you, especially in my hometown of Chicago.

It's great to be here and great to see you, David.

You have a half century almost of experience in journalism and in politics and covering

the government.

So we have a ton of stuff to talk about, but I want to talk about you first and how you

made that journey.

And you started in Charlottesville, Virginia.

That's why I was born.

Yeah.

Because my mom was doing World War II and my dad was in the South Pacific and my mom

lived in a little town called Orange.

And Orange didn't have a hospital.
