Summary

Two episodes and no major battles? No major deaths? It's true, and it's glorious. "Game of Thrones" is playing the long game on a short season, showing that HBO has grown and evolved to always show the audience something better than they knew they wanted.

Season 8 Episode 2 made us throw away our notebooks and just feel along with these characters, reminding us of how much we've grown to love them over the years and how much their wholesale deaths are going to hurt.

But it wasn't all gloom and doom. Arya's secret weapon was revealed. And then ARYA was revealed, leaving us all feeling a little bit like we just watching our niece disrobe.

Ghost showed up. Jon revealed his true name to Dany, and the Night King was conspicuously absent to his own party. Plus we saw the abbreviated trial of Jaime Lannister, the knighting of Brienne, and discovered why they call Tormound "Giantsbane."

You know sometimes you don't know what's exactly good for you or what's for your own good. In the beginning I found myself wishing. I said this is so slow. I want to get somewhere because I knew the battle's coming. I kept checking the time to see how much time was left in the episode hoping maybe are we going to get

1:04.3

surprise we're going to get the battle but by the end I gotta tell you the show knew what was

1:08.7

right for me it knew what was better for me and by the end I'm really really glad that we had this

1:15.2

episode and that we didn't just run headlong into the battle.

1:18.8

Some of the preview images that were released before episode two. You saw Jamie Lannister in front of

1:26.1

what appeared to be a tribunal of sorts and people were calling it the trial of Jamie Lannister and I was really

1:32.3

sitting in for some sort of a fiery back and forth. of to cast. We normally are like, okay, let's talk about the new facts that we learned.

1:43.2

So like, what are we going to get from this trial? Some new questions. And that's how we normally

1:47.4

follow the podcast. And just like you about halfway through, I just realize that all I want to talk about is the

1:53.9

feelings that the show has managed to evoke I don't give a shit about the facts.

1:58.8

Yeah I mean once we opened up with the the trailer Jamie Jamie, in front of Dinaris and her counsel in the Grand Hall,

I knew we were going to get through it pretty quick.

2:11.0

And they moved through that plot pretty quickly. But then, got people going in and out of the

2:16.0

the Cripps, we got people, you know, they're trying to train some of the local

folks. Davos is feeding, you know feeding the local hungry and trying to recruit them for the Army.
