Colin Turner, an ex-marine gunnery sergeant, and Bree Coon, a Navy chief petty officer, were at war with each other.

Colin and Brie were husband and wife, living in Gulf Breeze in Florida's panhandle.

Bree was the breadwinner of the family and worked long hours. While she was gone,

Colin was the stay-at-home dad. By all accounts, he was a devoted dad who loved his kids,

the two he had with Brie, who were three and four, and Brie's 12-year-old daughter from a previous

relationship. Colin also studied electrical engineering

online and was two classes short of finishing his bachelor's degree. Neither 34-year-old Bree nor

33-year-old Colin seemed happy in their marriage, however. Bree had severe depression. She felt trapped. Colin wanted a break,

too. He talked about taking the kids up north to Georgia to stay with his parents. Bree had made an

appointment to see a divorce attorney, which she would later say she feared she would lose custody of her kids if she left.

On the night of September 7, 2021, Brie and Colin went to bed, incredibly angry at each other.

The next morning, Brie took Colin's laptop and put it in the dishwasher and then turned it on. Three 911 calls were made

within a span of six hours on September 8, 2021. This is from the third and final call.

Your thoughts to emergency. Hi, you guys have been out to my house twice today, and then most recently,

the AWE talked to my wife and to let me in the house, and then she locked me in the garage

and I tried to break my arm when I was trying to get back inside.

The dispatcher asked for his address, and he gave it to her.

She's currently got me locked in the garage because earlier she broke both of the big doors

and then she, when I came out here to fix it after getting in the house earlier, she locked

the door behind me.

He was cut off by the sound of gunshots.

She just shot me, he says.
