Summary

In this episode we are joined by Conservation Horticulturist Emma Neigel of the Atlanta Botanical Garden to talk about the intersection of horticulture and conservation. When it comes to plant conservation, it isn't enough to just study why plants are rare, we must also learn what they need to grow and thrive. Being able to grown and propagate rare plants offers many species the hope of a brighter future. Join Emma and me as we discuss everything from growing rare milkweeds to finding new populations of endangered orchids in the wild and everything in between. their safeguarding nursery, which means she manages and takes care of some of the Southeast's

rarest plants. And of course at the center of some of the Southeast's rarest plants.

0:55.5

And of course, at the center of all of this is conservation, making sure that these plants have a future in today's ever-changing world.

It's an incredible position, and she's able to get her hands into the conservation process in a lot of ways.

1:08.4

For instance, you're going to hear a lot about how she's using species distribution modeling to try to locate new populations of rare plants for the purpose of

safeguarding. So, I don't want to keep you from this at all. This is one of the most fascinating
