Proprietress of the only Black woman-owned (and Black lesbian woman-owned BTW!) bookstore in Chicago, Danni Mullen is here! We’re talking books and back scratchers. And how our partners don’t appreciate how funny we are.
Danni has raised nearly $100,000 this week to make sure underprivileged kids can come into the store and shop the shelves. In exchange for her valuable time on this week’s episode and her willingness to share her work with me, I’ve donated $500 to the #ClearTheShelves initiative with the hope that you will all join me in donating. If she’s reached $100k by the time you click the link, good news! SHE WILL STILL TAKE YOUR MONEY! I insist you donate.
And order all of your books—Black authors or non-Black authors—from Danni and Semicolon!
Mentioned On This Episode!
To everyone who RSVP'd to my June 3rd Zoom with Sam Irby, we postponed and we promise we’ll figure out a time this summer to get online and hang out with everyone. Here is the email I sent out to all of the attendees: https://www.geethanksjustboughtit.com/blog/got-a-question-for-samantha-irby-ask-her-live-on-june-3rd-at-8pm-est and it has action items you can take TODAY to show up for the Black Lives Matter movement.
I have been starting each day this week listening to Danielle Henderson’s powerful words. Sometimes I listen multiple times. I would love for you to listen, too. Even if you already have. https://www.instagram.com/p/CA0bVCghhJS/
As always, reach me at [email protected] or leave me a message at 424-245-0736.
