0:18.2	was accused of one of the worst crimes imaginable.
0:22.4	Carly Greg has been charged with murdering her mother, Ashley Smiley, and attempting to murder her stepfather, he's

0:34.2	removing a camera and hiding it that captured a portion of the events. On the
0:39.4	outside it appeared as though Carly was a typical teenager, but according to prosecutor Newman,

0:50.4	Ladies and gentlemen, that's not why we're here though. We're here because of what she
0:56.3	did on March the 19th 2024. On March 19th, Carly shot and killed her mom and then tried to kill her stepfather.
1:08.5	She then fled the house, leaving her bleeding stepfather to call 911 for help.
1:14.7	She was later located by police and then arrested and charged with murder, aggravated assaults,
1:20.8	and tampering with evidence.
1:23.9	At trial, prosecutors didn't have to prove that Carly had been the killer.
1:28.7	The defense readily admitted that she had done it,
1:31.8	but they said she had been experiencing a mental health crisis, and they
1:36.2	asked a jury to find her not guilty by reason of insanity.
