distinguishing between the two books but the second book is called the subtitle is now build the

system for your life so the point of this episode today first all, is to get you to buy Jack's book,

get both of them, laws of life. But this is not about current events. It's not about the

Middle East. It's not about anything like that. It's about the practical kinds of things

that you need to know to be able to form good judgments and build the kind of life that you genuinely

want that would make you happy and fulfilled, that you won't just be a cog in a machine, that you

won't just follow the terrible advice that your high school guidance counselor gave you.

welcome back. Hey, Tom. Thanks for having me on. I'll try to live up to all that.

Well, let's start with what's the transition from the first to the second book?

So the first book, I honestly wrote it because people harassed me to write a book for 15, 16 years.

And I think everybody expected I would come out with a book on survivalism

since I host the survival podcast.

But my show's really always been about lifestyle design.

And, you know, when I look at my past, I'm an incredibly blessed person.

I feel so grateful for everything I had.

I thought about these things I used to throw out onto my audience all the time, and I'd be like, Spirico's Laws of Life number 12, right, or whatever. And that actually came from the movie Cocktail. Remember the guy had all these laws, right? The guy that was like the teacher. It was just a joke, but it was actually the laws were real. the Spirit Goals laws of life were just, you know, kind of this play on things. And when I sat down and write the book, I'm like, why don't I write about that? So I came up with like this like 32 laws that I've based my life on. And I'm like, that's way too long for her first book. So I cut it in half. And I wrote the first book. and the first book was okay. There was some technical errors in it. And one thing we haven't said yet
