columnist for the Washington Post?

He's an institution in that town and often one of its most eloquent critics.

He won the Pulitzer Prize in 2007 for alerting the country to the impending financial collapse

that followed.

And now he's written a book called Can American Capitalism Survive?

Why greed is not good?

Opportunity is not equal and fairness won't make us poor.

I sat down with Steve last week on his visit to the Institute of Politics where we talked

about the state of our economy, the state of capitalism, and given his past proclivity

for seeing into the future a disturbingly dark forecast about what might happen in our

economy next.

Steve Pearlstein is great to see you again.

I think the last time I saw you was when I was back in the administration and in the midst

of the economic disaster of the 2000s.

You wrote this book called Can American Capitalism Survive?
