We're we're encountering one of my I'm going to totally geek out right here. This this is the

Barcelona Cathedral. It's known as the Basilica of the Holy Cross and it is one of the most beautiful Gothic structures in all of Europe.

It's actually Catalan Gothic.

Catalan Gothic we've talked a little bit about in the monastery is, it's, it's ironically

it's a little more subtle than European Gothic And it's not as tall.

They don't go for such heights.

They don't go for the massive stained glass windows.

But regardless, Ralph, you just asked me, like,

so all right, I don't know all the symbolism or anything like that what

what am I supposed to see here what is this and as we're looking at it for me the

term by which to understand this kind of structure is a term known as

cosmic piety and cosmic piety is this notion that the world is filled with divine meaning and purpose.

Basically all populations all over the world for the rise of the modern world

held to some kind of cosmic piety. They all defined it in their

own culturally specific ways, but in our Western way, we define cultural piety, or cosmic piety like that. Cosmic piety is this

notion that the world is filled with divine meaning and purpose and therefore

every person born in the world is born to some kind of divine obligation.

We're obliged to conform our lives into a harmonious relationship with that divine meaning and purpose.
