with his absence from the tom wood show which is entirely my fault but dan as you know is vice president for

publications at the intercollegiate studies institute he has many other things that we could say about him, including his work as editor of

modern age, which is a tremendously important, significant journal of conservative thought

that's been around for quite a long time since the 1950s.

But you also know him from his syndicated column, and I'm always edified, let's say, by Dan's columns.

I catch them in the New York Post, and it just brings a smile to my face to see Dan McCarthy

in the New York Post, which I used to read regularly as a young man, in the same way that when I saw

my friend Tim Carney appear on the McLaughlin group, I remember thinking,

you know, I used to love the McLaughlin group, and it's great to see all my friends having

all these great accomplishments. So, Dan, welcome back.

Thanks, Tom. Delighted to be here. All right. Well, look, this is the week of Columbus Day,

and I believe the president made some kind of an announcement to the effect that

it was to be known as Columbus Day. Now, somebody sent me an email. I think it was from Fidelity.

Because some of these companies were sending out emails to investors to let them know that it's a

bank holiday, but the markets are still open so you can, you can trade and

do whatever. And they specifically went on their way to say that on this indigenous people's

day, you should remember that the markets are open. I thought, well, I thought the president had a

little something to say about that. Well, it turns out that Dan McCarthy had a little something
