0:00.0	Good afternoon. We begin with breaking news. A coroner has ruled that multiple failures by West Midlands police
0:07.3	materially contributed to the murders of a mother and her daughter in Solihull. René Moude and her mother,
0:15.4	Kaula Salem, were stabbed to death by Renim's estranged husband outside their home in August of 2018.
0:23.3	She'd made numerous reports of domestic violence to the police during and after their relationship.
0:29.7	Well, Sky's Becky Johnson is at Birmingham Coroner's Court there. Becky, what else did we learn today?
0:39.4	This is a verdict that is very damning of West Midlands police and their response to multiple
0:45.7	calls for help by a young mother who was being abused by her estranged husband.
0:51.7	In the months leading up to the murder of Reneimuday and her mother,
0:55.4	Kaola Salim, Mizuday called 999 some 14 times to report incidents of domestic abuse.
1:04.2	These included threats to kill her. These included threats to stab her. And yet, repeatedly, police, this inquest jury found,
1:13.5	did not log these reports correctly. They did not follow up on these reports correctly. They
1:20.1	didn't assess the risk correctly. And then in August of 2018, in the early hours of the morning,
1:26.4	the two women were stabbed to death by Jambaz Terrine, the estr early hours of the morning, the two women were stabbed to death by
1:28.8	Jan Bas Terrine, the estranged husband, the woman, the man that Reneemu Deh had kicked out
1:34.6	after she found out he had another wife and children in Afghanistan. Now, on the night of the
1:42.3	murder, the two women, Reneemide and Carla Salim were in Ashihaba in Birmingham. Now, at the night of the murder, the two women, Renimi Day and Carlos Salim, were in a Shisha bar in Birmingham.
1:47.5	Now, at the time, there was an order in place that Jan Basterin should not approach them, but he was there in the bar.
1:53.0	There was a confrontation between them in the bar.
1:56.7	Now, following that, Renimu Day was captured on the CCTV footage, calling 999.
2:03.6	That was the first of four calls she made to the police that night.
