I think about the first lie ever spoken was from Satan to Eve. Did God really say?

Often we hear that quoted as though Satan is trying to question the history, the memory of what

Eve remembers God saying.

But in the original language, what we actually discover is that Satan is questioning

the goodness of God. He's mocking the character of God. It's like he's going, oh, is that what God said? Oh, really? God said that.

Which what happens is it seeps into our hearts that God is not good.
