you today's episode because in this episode I am talking with Jonathan Balcombe and

Jonathan is a biologist who has a PhD in the study of animal behavior. He's also the

author of four popular science books that explore the inner lives of animals including

Pleasurable Kingdom, Second Nature, and also what a fish knows, which is a New York Times bestseller,

and it's actually Jonathan's work in

exploring the behavior of marine animals that we're discussing in today's

podcast because of course as we know as vegans the fish can often be ignored and we can

reduce fish to almost just these lifeless beings that exist in the ocean when

actually their life is incredibly rich and they do some amazing things that we

often just overlook or simply haven't realized until very recently and so Jonathan's

work really explores these animals and how wonderful and amazing that they are.
