All right, I didn't even tell you what tonight was about. Well, okay, so we're recording in the

evening. I'll cats out of the back. I didn't even tell you what this is going to be about,

but you are the kind of person who can just, I wouldn't say roll with the punches because you're

not getting punched, but you can basically deal with whatever's thrown at you.

So I want to talk a little bit about some big picture topics that you know more about than I do because you're in that world much more than I am.

And I'm talking about the world of conservatism.

Now, obviously, the Republican Party and conservatism have had a relationship an uneasy relationship,

but a relationship all the same for a long time. And sometimes, well, probably more than sometimes,

one side of those two is frustrated with the other. But what I want to ask you about is,

because of the rise of Trump in the political sphere, there's also been an

evolution, I would say, of the conservative movement in the intellectual sphere, that politics

does spill over into the institutions of conservatism and into the way of thinking, let's say,

or at least the ideas that are given particular emphasis. So I'd like to start there,

if we may. If you were to look back at, let's say, the conservative world of 2015 and compare it

with the conservative world of 2024, where has it gone, maybe either or both institutionally
