state legislative sessions is on MPAs yet another acronym you should know,

marine protected areas.

In 1999, the California legislature

passed the Marine Life Protection Act.

This law required the design of a network of MPAs.

Those MPAs, were designed through a coalition of interests conservationists,

fishermen tribes, agency, representatives.

And I'm paraphrasing here, but that's what we're talking about today are marine protected areas and our
