Hi, welcome to the Young Heretics Halloween Special.

So it's Halloween and it's a very weird one because Halloween is like basically canceled.

At least as of right now, I assume that there will not be as much trick-or-treating this

year because our divine overlord, Dr. Fauci has declared that we must never see or touch

one another ever again.

As you can tell probably from the tone of my voice, I think that everybody should disregard

this entirely and go trick-or-treating and have a lot of fun.

I'm going to make an argument for why Halloween is important on this episode.

But since it's kind of a weird time for holidays and it can be hard to feel the excitement

that we usually feel at the holiday season, here at Young Heretics we will be bringing

the holidays to you with this Halloween episode.

Halloween is the time for reckoning with the dark things that lurk just at the edges

of your site.

And hopefully by the end of this episode you'll have a sense for why we have traditions

of doing that.

Halloween has been canceled lately in more ways than one.

Besides the COVID lockdowns, there have also been a number of accusations of cultural

appropriation associated with Halloween as you probably know, right?

At Yale, as you may recall, my alma mater, I am afraid to say, in 2015, Nicholas and

Erica Christakis became names that would live in SJW Infamy.
