hi everybody tom woods here it is episode 2724 of the Tom Woods show, and we're very, very happy, of course, all of us listening to be joined by the great David Stockman once again. It was, let's say, somewhat fortuitous that I happened upon David as the guest for this episode because I had somebody else fall through. And the very day that person fell through, David Stockman emailed me some of his writing on the Venezuela topic. And I thought, all right, I'm going to rope this poor SOB into the episode. David Stockman, of course, directed the Office of Management and Budget under Ronald Reagan. Before that, he'd been a U.S. Congressman.

He had a, I think we can say, a distinguished private sector career as well. And now he could retire

very happily and go off into the sunset and play golf all day. He does not need to be doing

the writing and speaking and educating that he's doing but like any good patriot he can't

do otherwise you know in that sense it's like martin luther here i stand i can do no other that is the

dictum of the great david stockman welcome back david well thank you and you know that's kind of right

i got into this business as a radical SDS student protester in 1967

when I came to the obvious conclusion that the Vietnam War was a total error,

wait, just wrong, and got into the business of protesting.

And from there, I got to Washington somehow, and from there I got elected to Congress and then to the White House.

So once you've spent more than a half century immersed in all that goes on in the process of governance

and in the world of economics and markets and finance and, you know, all the rest of it, it's pretty hard

to let go of. So I work at it day to day to write this newsletter. And what I'm discovering right

now, Tom, I think it's really a new thing, a new breakthrough. A one-man research shop, which I am, I don't have any big organization, I don't

even have any assistant, is now enabled through AI to access massive amounts of relevant data

to bring to the table and to bring to the analysis and to, you know, put in your daily missives

that was never even dreamable before. And some of that I've used this time as we get into the

morass of this absolutely cockamamie gong show that we have underway now with the kidnapping of a

president of a sovereign country in the middle of the night in his official residence wearing his

pajamas i mean this is crazy because there was no justification for it whatsoever. And
