three, send out a hitman to murder your nephew, step four, pay off everyone who helped

to accomplish step three, step five, collect the life insurance money, that is, if you

can get the insurance companies to pay up. That, federal prosecutor said, was how reality

star Tim Norman orchestrated the murder of his nephew. Twenty-year-old Andre Montgomery

Jr. was gunned down in March 2016. He died from a gunshot wound to his abdomen. The

St. Louis County Medical Examiner ruled the manner of death a homicide. Tim Norman

first found fame from being on a reality show about his family's soul food restaurant

in St. Louis. The show, which ran on the Oprah Winfrey network, was called Welcome to

Sweetie Pies. Local patrons lined up outside to get a taste of their famous mac and cheese,

peach cobbler, cornbread, ox tail, and fried chicken. Tim, handsome and tall with memorable

muscles, was a reformed ex-fellon who ran the restaurant with his mother, wed a long

history in show business. Tim's mother, Ms. Robbie Montgomery, had been a backup singer

performing with some of the greats, like Frank Sinatra and Tina Turner. Tim told the

St. Louis dispatch the family's show was entertainment gold. Most of the time it's pure comedy,

the cooks fighting over recipes, and mom and I always arguing, he said, but there's definitely

some drama in there too. What was going to make Tim even more famous, infamous, you could

say, was his trial for conspiracy to commit murder for hire. The trial was more than six

years after Andre's death and was full of colorful and shocking witness testimony. It seemed
